And He answered and said unto them, "I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."

Sunday Scribblings # 206

#206 - The book that changed everything
Is there a book that you read at a particular time in your life that changed everything for you? Is there a book you think should be written that would change everything? Words have an incredible power if they are read/ heard by the right person at the right time. What collection of words has been powerful for you?

It Changed Everything

I worked at a bank with a pastor's daughter. She was so free spirited. It bugged me because I was trapped in an abusive marriage, which was falling apart.

I began to go to her father's little church and to read the bible. In all my years of Sunday School, Lutheran Elementary School and confirmation classes, it never occurred to me that God loved me and forgave me of my sins. Sitting at his kitchen table, the pastor showed me otherwise.

The book was part of what changed me 22 years ago.

I cannot apologize for the book that I picked because this truly changed my life and that was what the prompt meant to me.

Of all the books in the world, the Bible seems to be the one that polarizes, affects, teaches, and changes depending on your circumstance or emotional state more than any other ever written. What grace that you wre able to take it into your heart as well as your head.

It was the only book I ever saw my father read. Every single night before going to bed he would read his Bible. It changed his life also and me, being the youngest of six, was the one that got the best of him. I got a father who was patient and kind and loving and had put all of his demons to rest.
